Birnam and Dunkeld offers some of the most amazing wildlife viewing in Scotland, thanks to its wonderful location on the River Tay and surrounding woodlands and moorlands. The Loch of the Lowes nature reserve is only 3 miles away, home to Ospreys, goldeneye and many ducks while the Tay holds good numbers of goosander and red breasted merganser.
The surrounding woodlands and forests are home to many woodland birds such as great spotted woodpecker and treecreeper. Black grouse are numerous on the nearby moorlands and Perthshire is a hotspot for this species which is generally in decline.
Running and Navigation weekends
We offer a range of activities including guided trail and hill running in a wonderful part of the Scottish Highlands from the guest house. As an athletics coach for over 10 years we have operated running holidays for many years and navigation is a core part of this activity for people wanting to be a bit more adventurous and get away from the crowds or tackle some of the more challenging hills and mountain races. We have experience of a wide range of groups, womens networks, jogscotland groups and athletics clubs catering for all standards of running.
